A Special Message from Dr. Tabia Jones, President/CEO of SJA

“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.”

Sr. Mary Brendan Bogdan was born on January 25, 1946 to Walter and Virginia Bogdan. She has a sister Christina and brother-in-law Steve Jakupi.   She was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and entered the Felician Sisters in 1964.  She worked in several different arenas, as a teacher and principal in Illinois.  She also served the Felician Sisters of the Chicago Province as Vicar and Director of Ministry and then Provincial Secretary and Director of Ministry.  She was the Director of Mission and Outreach for St. Joseph Academy for 14 years; however, Sr. Brendan has been associated with SJA for 27 years.  Before serving in the Director of Mission and Outreach role in 2005, she was on the Board of Directors for 12 years.

“She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.”

An unequivocal advocate for the underserved, Sr. Brendan continuously and tirelessly seeks out opportunities to serve our SJA families. A few small examples are giving out turkeys at Thanksgiving and making sure, each child has a gift at Christmas time.

“She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.”

It is a wonder and a pleasure to hold a conversation with Sr. Brendan.  She is a wise, intelligent and compassionate woman with a heart for the people.

“Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.”

We celebrate this wonderful woman of God’s new chapter in life and all her accomplishments.  We thank her for her steadfast dedication to the SJA learning community and we honor her beautiful spirit.

We are very fortunate, as Sr. Brendan will continue to serve in our SJA learning community, just in a different capacity.  She will volunteer and work with the Resource Development Office beginning July 1 and Sr. Michelle Konieczny will assume her role.

Congratulations Sr. Brendan! Thank you for sharing your gifts with us!
