As part of Math class, the 3rd graders at St. Joseph Academy made paper airplanes! They wanted to see what the best folding angles would be to help their planes fly the furthest and smoothest.
In the hallway, the class measured and compared the flight distance of their paper airplanes. The airplanes helped our students explore, design, and redesign based on immediate feedback from test flights. In the end, the 3rd graders discovered that different folding angles create different wing shapes with different flight characteristics.
It’s a wonderful day when imagination and learning come together to help students develop creative solutions!
