Franklin kids band together to help local music department
Local school, St. Joseph Academy’s music department is growing thanks to the kind donations by local Franklin children.
On Monday, Oct. 28th at 9:30 a.m. four Franklin children will visit St. Joseph Academy (1600 W Oklahoma Ave. Milwaukee, WI 53215) to see their donations brought to life. The third grade classroom LL14 has prepared a sing along with the new keyboards that were purchased on behalf of the generous donation from four small children with big and loving hearts.
Four Franklin-area children combined the money from their piggy banks in order to provide local Southside school, St. Joseph Academy, with three new wireless keyboards for their music program.
When Olivia (age 7) was handed $100 for her birthday she had no hesitation turning that gift into something bigger than any seven-year old could imagine. Her generosity sparked a movement in her Franklin home and subdivision, fostering the spirit of giving back.
The essence of giving spread through the household to Olivia’s younger brother Bennett (age 5) who in turn emptied his piggy bank to find $20. He followed in his big sisters footsteps and added to the growing donation pot.
Landen (age 7) and Mason (age 5), friends of Olivia and Bennett, also joined the effort and soon the Franklin group raised $220.00. Parents of both families are involved with St. Joseph Academy, and thus the school was the perfect fit to receive the children’s donation.
“We are extremely appreciative of the generosity of these young children. They are inspirational role models in showcasing that you can never be too young to give back to the community, every last bit counts,” said Principal Todd Beadle. “Our students are thrilled with the new keyboards this donation was able to provide and we hope that this too will foster a sense of giving back among our students and staff.”
