St. Joseph Academy students were not in class on Feb. 7th and 8th, but their teachers were.
Besides hosting parent/teacher conferences, the faculty participated in workshops regarding “Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®) for Primary Grades” and “Bloom’s Taxonomy: For Teaching & Learning”.
Jason Tadloch, currently an administrator at Wheatland School District, shared his expertise about how to use the various reports generated through MAP assessment with the staff. He stressed the importance of individual growth and student goal setting. Jason will take over as the new Elkhorn Area School District Administrator next fall.
Janie Hatton, winner of the prestigious National School Principal of the Year Award (1993) and currently a coach/mentor through Catapult Learning, engaged the teachers in work with literature activities as to how to raise levels of difficulty, skill development and critical thinking.
Everyone agreed that time was well spent and the students will benefit most from the teacher’s learning.
